Many people are very surprised at Beyoncés half time performance at the 2016 Superbowl. This article explains what many probably didn't realize what the performance was actually representing.  It is said to be politically charged, scandalous, and an assault to police officers. Also something to show awareness about the way blacks are often misjudged or treated unfairly, something that very important people fought for long ago.
My opinion on this is that Beyonce took advantage of her performance in a good way to show the importance of a very talked about topic in the social eye. I think it was a very brave thing of her to do, knowing that people would criticize her for standing up for something that a lot of people are affected by. If she wouldn't have who else would? Also with the Superbowl being viewed by 111.9 million people, an impact is definitely going to be made.
This article ties in with what we're learning this semester on the effects the social media/ mass media has on political views, especially among the youth. "We tend to criticize celebrities for talking about politics, for taking a stand on serious issues," is a quote from the article. The reason for this is because of the huge impact celebrities make with any comment that they say or action that they do.
